Putting an end to sexual assault

Last week on Sept. 26 and 27 the College held a Peer Education Program on sexual assault. The program is run by an organization called One in Four, previously known as No More. The signature presentation of the program was for men, but a program for women has been added to their routine as well.

Campus Safety Notes

Sept. 25 - Fire Alarm Sounding - A fire alarm was set off due to cooking in Robertson Hall. Sept. 25 - Fire - A student called to report a fire in one of the hookah barrels outside of Prosser Hall. The fire was caused by trash that had been thrown in the barrel by students.

Co-education comes home

This year marks the 50th anniversary of co-education at the College. Throughout the academic year, there will be many events to celebrate this milestone. Just this past weekend, Homecoming Queens from the last 50 years came back to campus and took their place on the football field with the newly crowned Homecoming King and Queen, Alex Corgan '08 and Kate Alfred '08, respectively.

Bienvenidos a Latin Heritage Week

The sights, sounds and tastes of Hispanic culture have taken over the campus starting on Mon., Oct. 1 as part of Latin Heritage Week at the College. National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place in the United States from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The College's club, Comunidad Latina, chose to celebrate the week of Mon.

Student Council on the move

Over the summer, there were a number of important changes that took place within the Student Affairs offices in the lower level of Seegers Union. The lower level of Seegers is used on a daily basis by most students at the College. The presence of the 'Berg Bookstore, student mailboxes and Sandella's make the area a natural "hang out" spot for students and allows students who are passing by to notice or even stop in the offices positioned there.

A battle for the power

The Powerhouse Café, located in the Life Sports Center, has recently removed its name due to a legal issue concerning another "Powerhouse Café" in Winter Park, Florida. The College was contacted by the café's attorneys last May because the owner felt that the identical names posed a conflict for his business.
