Sat. Sept. 27 was a beautiful day for Homecoming activities once the rain had stopped and the sky became clear. Luckily the weather had cleared up just in time for the reveal of Homecoming King and Queen! About two weeks before Homecoming Weekend the class of 2009 was asked to choose two men and two women to be Homecoming King and Queen.
This semester the College hosts three new exchange students, but why did they choose Muhlenberg when there are so many colleges in this big country? Why little Muhlenberg? is the first question you have when you meet a student from abroad. But there is a simple answer - it's a nice college, in a cute city, and there is the famous Allentown fair! Julia Kooyman, a junior from the Netherlands, explains why she chose to study at the College.
It's no secret that here at the College we as students are blessed with some extremely talented faculty. But what many students are not aware of is our professors' impressive work outside of the Muhlen-bubble. A worthy example of this can be found in Dr.
Dr. Kimberly Heiman is one of the nineteen new, full-time faculty members teaching at the College this year. Currently she is teaching Human Biology and Bio III: Molecules and Cells. She received her B.A. in Biology from a small liberal arts school in Sarasota, FL called New College of Florida where she studied horseshoe crabs for her senior thesis.
Dr. Benjamin Carter is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology here at the College. While he is only teaching on campus for a single semester, Dr. Carter is sharing his extensive knowledge of anthropology and archeology in multiple courses with strong enrollment.
Wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, visited Cedar Crest College on Sept. 24. She was accompanied by Jill Biden, wife of Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden Obama addressed a crowd in the College's Memorial Hall about the needs of military families, saying that they need a better support structure.
Sept. 22 - Medical - Seegers Union - Sodexho employee was accidentally hit in head with pan. MCEMS transported worker to hospital. Sept. 22 - Lost/Found - Liberty St. - Wallet found with credit card and drivers license but no cash. Wallet was returned to owner and Allentown Police is investigating.
