Tonight, we write our final editorial as editors of The Weekly. We have learned many things since our first day on the job. Some things were learned the hard way, bringing tears and extreme aggravation, but in the end all those long Tuesday nights were well worth it. We are proud of the paper we have produced these last couple of years, and we are confident in the staff that will take over next year. We have covered important events such as the election, Obama and Biden's visits to campus, and all the changes at Muhlenberg along the way such as renovations and new faculty.

What we will miss most, though, is the camaraderie of the newsroom. Every Tuesday night for the past few years, we have worked, laughed, and posted funny quotes around the office of everything ridiculous coming out of our mouths. The importance of having a staff that gets along should not be underestimated, and we have been very lucky that our Tuesday night group not only works well together, but actually enjoys the process.

But let's face it, the long hours took their toll at times. Endlessly staring at a computer screen, editing the same sentence for an hour (and still not quite figuring out what's wrong), and being meticulous about layout has led us right to the brink of insanity. Thankfully, we always had the Campus Safety Notes to pull us back from the edge and give us a good laugh.

We loved every minute. We wouldn't have put up with all the ups and downs for this long if we didn't. We've seen staff members come and go, and have witnessed the evolution of the paper. As Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor, we slowly figured out that we can take the paper in whichever direction we choose. Whenever a question was asked, we used to respond with a "No, that's not how it's always been done." Slowly but surely, we realized that the better answer was, "Why not?" And we feel the paper has benefitted because of it.

We are leaving the paper in capable hands. The new Executive Board has met every challenge we've thrown at them so far, and we know they will continue to improve the paper in every way they can. After tonight though, its all you. It's been good fun. But seriously, we are checking out as of this evening. Good luck next year, and stock up on some Advil and caffeine, you're gonna need it.
